Established two years ago, by Paul and Inna Brett, the Brett Gallery initially set up to showcase a collection of Victorian and Edwardian glass plate images of sailing yachts from the internationally famous Beken of Cowes Maritime archive. Over the next 5 years, the Brett Gallery will bring together a unique collection of maritime images, dating from 1870 to 1935, from 15 of the worlds greatest period photographers. This body of work will comprise 12 volumes of evocative images representing the halcyon years of big class yacht racing around the world. In response to a lack of expertise in glass plate restoration, traditional photographic printing techniques and large format framing in the UK and Europe, the gallery decided to establish its own factory facility in March 2015 to facilitate this project.The company has invested heavily in state of the art conservation, printing and framing equipment that has enabled it to truly offer a large format print and framing capability unparalleled within Europe.

We have built up a wealth of expertise in printing and large format framing and would be interested in working with clients on any bespoke printing and framing commissions in the UK and Europe.

FRAMING, Printing & Mounting

 • BESPOKE FRAMING

 We have the largest CMC mount cutter in Europe that was specially built for us by Valianni Italy. We can 45-degree bevel cut mount board up to 1,530mm x 3,000mm up to 5mm thick. We hold a large stock of custom-made conservation mount board in black and white with sheet sizes of 1,530mm x 3,000mm x 3.5mm. This can create a 45-degree bevel cut of 4.95mm. We can also laminate sheets together to form larger 45-degree bevels up to 7mm. We can accommodate frames with up to 3 x 3.5mm mountboards with laminated, non-reflective glass up to 4.4mm thick. We can custom make frame mouldings with deeper rebates to suit specific projects as well.

• MOUNTING

We can dry mount images onto kapa or any other substrate up to 2” thick, prints up to 60” wide and have recently commissioned a larger laminating machine to extend this capability to 78” (1,980mm). 

• PRINTING

We are able to print giclee prints up to 60” (1,524mm) wide, and Bartya silver gelatin photographs up to 50” (1,270mm) wide.
