Sir Stuart Lipton amazed a fortune from the humble cup of tea and used his vast wealth in the pursuit of his dream of winning the America’s Cup. Pictured here is a majestic photograph of Shamrock 1, her boom and sail seemingly defying gravity. She was the first of 5 Challengers built by Lipton bearing this name and Challenged for the America’s Cup in the summer of 1899 against the Defender Columbia losing 3-0.

Limited edition, silver gelatin photograph, printed using the original 6” x 4” glass plate, with 3 x 3.5mm conservation mountboard and presented behind 99% UV, non-reflective glass. Edition number will be advised on purchase.
